**DISCLAIMER** This is just one man's opinion to try to get the word out on good music that might be off the radar (or at least someone's radar). I don't pretend to know everything about music, I'm basically a fan, so enjoy.
Genre: Melodic Rock/Pop
Hey Errbody,
I gots another CD for you to listen to. This week's selection is a tender slice of worship rock. This is a guy I stumbled onto because I got one of those nifty pre-release CDs from my record label in the mail. I know, I know, but it is one of the many perks of being a Christian Rockstar (oxymoron, anyone?). Another perk would be getting up @ 3 am for a few days in a row after playing a concert the night before and getting to bed around 1 am, ahhh the glamor. I really liked that CD from the start, and this one is even better. I was really pleasently surprised when I saw Phil on the GMA awards last year (mostly because I hadn't heard his stuff on the radio), and was even more pleased at the preformance. For those of you who know and love Leeland, this guys is along the same vein. For those of you who don't , Im waiting on Leeland's new CD to hit before I put it up here, but in the meantime, look 'em up, they won't dissapoint. Very melodic, very contemplative, very GOOD.
Lyrics. The big song for me on this album is True Love. I could explain where this guy is coming from lyrically, but I will let the chorus of this one speak for itself
The earth was shaking in the dark
All creation felt the Fathers broken heart
Tears were filling heavens eyes
The day that true love died, the day that true love died
When blood and water hit the ground
Walls we couldn't move came crashing down
We were free and made alive
The day that true love died, The day that true love died
Lifestyle Reading up on his bio, I found out he started leading worship at the age of 12. I think I was trying out for the footbal team and getting wedgies at that tim in my life, but I'm not ashamed. Everything I read about him says that worship is his focus and ministry his end. Here was a quote I found from an interview on his favorite verse.
"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest."(Math 11:28)
Where Jesus are talking to the people. It portrays the heart of God in such a sweet and kind way. It can mean so much to so many different people. I love it when you get a glimpse into the heart of God. Again, it's really hard for me to just pick one, because there are I feel like there is a different verse on my mind everyday. But this verse has meant so much to me. That Christ saidCome to me, all you who are wear, all you who are tired, you who are broken, just come to me and I will give you rest. It's such an invitation! We should see it as the grandness and majesty of God that He can give an invitation to the lowly. To the people that are at the end of the rope, Jesus says Come, all you have to do is come to me. God is so kind, and its so worth it, to get to know Him!
Live Preformance This will be one of the times I have not actually seen the artist in concert, but I can tell you it is pretty much a worship service. Because I saw it on YouTube, so here's a couple of videos, or you can just swing by Phil Wikham's website.
