So, I just finished singing at the 57th annual National Day of Prayer Breakfast. It was an amazing time of prayer and fellowship with the leader of our nation, the men and women that work alongside him and work for "we the people", international leaders, ministers, etc... I just about peed my pants while singing Voice of Truth, because there, only 10 feet away from me, was the President of the United States of America! He politely smiled and nodded at me as I exited the stage, which I thought was a genuinely friendly gesture. But, still nerve racking, nonetheless! The plan for the rest of the day you ask? A tour of our nation's capital and a dinner concert for our senators tonight... then home!
As for my progress with the 3-day walk...
Three days ago, I walked a 1.5 miles and Two days ago, I walked 2 miles. Yesterday was a day of traveling and non stop working, so didn't get a chance to walk. Today is the same deal, but I will be doing a considerable amount of walking due to the hugeness of the capital tour. So, I think I'm good. Hopefully tomorrow I can get back on my (seemingly) regular routine!!
I wanted to take a second to thank all of you for your words of encouragement and motivation. I have an overwhelming peace about the walk. When I found out about the immoral involvements of Susan G. Komen, I was literally devastated. My husband, Ryan, kept telling me I looked sick (which I certainly felt) and seemed distracted (which I certainly was). But, I really feel that God WANTED me to dig in and do my research. I think all things God calls us to requires research. Sometimes it can help in our preparation of the task God has called us to to go in ready and aware of the challenges and obstacles we may face while we are carrying it out (If you don't agree with me, read Nehemiah... that man was a prepared servant)! I have loads of information about therestricted grants Susan G. Komen gives to planned parenthood and about the other free women's health services planned parenthood offers to underprivileged women (e.g. mammograms, pap smears, etc...). Our culture raises us to be passionate about what we believe in, but at the same time, our passions can camouflage much of our ignorance about our passions. I never want to claim one thing and so passionately pursue it without knowing all the details. Just like God's Word tells us to make sure our words are "seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone", knowing God's Word is essential to our faith and witness, just as knowing our facts and information should be with our passions. I in no way support planned parenthood, but at the same time, I believe Susan G. Komen does too much good to boycott their efforts. Which is why I've done so much research. I would rather choose not to support one of the other hundreds of corporations that contribute monstrous amounts of money to organizations such as planned parenthood, while the rest is simply profit for the company (e.g. Starbucks, Apple, Microsoft, Nike, Quaker Oats, Kellogg, etc...).

If anyone wants to discuss any of my research with me, I'd be more than happy to connect with you through my email, megan@castingcrowns.com, as I can get a little more specific! But, please don't overload me, guys! I have a youth ministry to help run, a 3 year old to keep up with, and LOTS and LOTS of walking to do! Ha! Love you guys and thank God for your prayers and support!!
"Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity. Let your conversations be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone." Col. 4:5-6

I think this is so good that you sang in front of the president. I think this is such a great honor. You should be very proud.

First I wanted to say I absolutely love you guys. I just seen you in Pittsburgh, PA and I am considering going to see you when you are in State College, PA in April. I need to find a way to get my husband to go. I absolutely love your voice. Your back up vocals are haunting.

On the subject of planned parenthood, Satan often smokescreens things that are bad with something that is good. I just can't support a group that is so intent on murdering innocent little babys by the millions. Was just wandering what your thought was on this subject.
Keep on singing and spreading the good news! Can't wait to see you guys again.

Saw you last night & you were so beautiful in every way!
I just wanted to send you a word of encouragement in the research you did before blindly supporting an organization. I think sometimes we can get caught in the 'flow' of people supporting something we really don't know much about.
And GOOD for you for walking! I signed up for a 1/2 marathon here, it will be my first one! YIKES in in March, better get my butt in gear.
We came to watch you guys here in Virginia Beach, just absolutely loved it! Mark was having issues with his voice, and you all still sounded amazing. And as much as I love the guys, I just love it when you ladies step up to the mike. :o) Good stuff.
Blessings to you and prayers for your walk.
