Brian's Page

What was the first Christian album that you bought or where given?
It was some label compilation album given to me at a yard sale! Jesus Freak was the first one I ever really got in to.

What was the most influential person in your life during your High School years?
Teachers/Leaders in my church.

How hard is it to manage your life on the road vs. your life at home?
Pretty tough since I am also a youth pastor. Something always gets cheated. You just have to choose what you cheat and I try to never let it be my family. God helps me keep a balance and gives me grace when I get lopsided.

What is the funniest thing that has happened you while on the road with Casting Crowns?
There is tons of inside comedy that takes place when we are all together. That kind of stuff just develops the more time you spend with each other. Although, there was a time when Megan shot water out of her mouth/nose and sprayed nearly everyone on the bus that stands out in my mind as being pretty hilarious!

Who is your favorite super hero?
Whoever my son is into at any given moment.

Who is your current favorite musical artist/group? Why?
I have way too many interests to ever narrow it down to one! I like bands that don't peddle lies in their lyrics and have a well produced record. I'm big on production, if it doesn't sound good, I have a hard time listening. Switchfoot's "Hello Hurricane" is one of my favorite records at the moment. I find myself going back to hits of the past as well. Sometime having some hindsight really helps you to appreciate a big song more.

What is a largely unknown skill that one of the other Crowns member that should be shared with everyone?
Hector is a very good graphic artist and designs a lot of the stuff you see in our products.

What is the best advice someone has given you about working with youth groups?
"Youth Ministry is all about relationships" - Matt Piland. "Teenage Believers need 4 big things: one on one discipleship, community, Family who supports their faith, & a ministry of their own." - Mark Hall
If I could give someone any advice it would be to spend your time knowing God everyday for yourself and building one on one relationships with your students. Don't strive for rapid growth. You can't impact their friends until you impact them.

Who do you enjoy following on Twitter?
Mark always has something interesting to say.

If you weren’t in Casting Crowns, what would you be doing now?
I would be working full time in youth ministry at Rock Springs Church and playing music whenever the opportunity presented itself.

Hey Errbody,      I am never tired of what we get to do for God, how important it is and how fun it usually ends up being.  When I heard we were going to play for the President and numerous dignitaries, I couldn't believe it.  I am so honored that whoever it was talked to whoever it might have been and told them whatever they told them to make it okay to be within feet of the President.  Say what you like...
