What was the first Christian album that you bought or where given?
The first Christian CD I remember buying was DC Talk Jesus Freak. It still rocks.

What was the most influential person in your life during your High School years?
Any upperclassmen who wanted to hang out with me. Did you hear that Juniors and Seniors?

How hard is it to manage your life on the road vs. your life at home?
Lots of prayer. I pray when that when I’m home, God maximizes the time He gives me with my family and my church and when I’m out, I pray that He unites us as a band being like-minded so that we can pour into His church.

What is the funniest thing that has happened you while on the road with Casting Crowns?
I still laugh about jumping up and down and my guitar coming crashing down to the floor. I think even the Holy Spirit was laughing

Who is your favorite super hero?
Bible man? Wolverine was the only one I ever knew anything about as a kid. Most of my heroes growing up were baseball players. Ryne Sandberg, CalRipken Jr., Ozzie Smith, Dale Murphy, etc.

Who is your current favorite musical artist/group? Why?
Switchfoot, Needtobreathe and The Afters can do no wrong for me. If either one of these bands decided to sing “This Is The Song That Doesn’t End”, it would be the coolest song ever. EVER!

What is a largely unknown skill that one of the other Crowns member that should be shared with everyone?
You wouldn’t think Melodee could hit the way she does by her size. The only explanation is her hand weighs 50 pounds.

What is the best advice someone has given you about working with youth groups?
1) Bobby McGraw: “Effective Ministry happens when Godly resources meet human needs through loving channels for God’s glory.”
2) Mark Hall: “You have to earn the right to speak to teenagers.”
3)Francis Chan (I’d love to meet him personally someday, but this is a quote I read out of “Crazy Love”): “When we work for Christ out of obligation, it feels like work. But, when we truly love Christ, our work is a manifestation of that love, and it feels like love.”

Who do you enjoy following on Twitter?
@sweetart14. She’s my bride and I like to know what’s going on at home. Other than her, Juan. Funny guy. (@6StringHero)!

If you weren’t in Casting Crowns, what would you be doing now?
Trying to get into Switchfoot. But seriously folks, leading worship or doing graphic design somewhere.

Discussion on Worship

6.15 | Prayer in Worship
I've had a very hard time starting this "worship leading" segment of my blog because it's such a huge subject to talk about. AND I haven't mastered it (not that I'm meant to). In fact, I'd like to invite any worship leaders who read this to write some God given testimonies or suggestions on how we all can be better worship leaders. One thing that God has really been showing me lately is how prayer heavily effects my worship. Sounds like a...

7.15 | For the Musicians
If there’s one thing I’ve heard from sound guys throughout the 11 years that I’ve been with Casting Crowns it’s, “Turn your amp down!”. I was beginning to think it was a lengthy nickname they’d given me. And did I get frustrated when they said that to me? Yes. “What about the tone?!” was one response OR I’d walk towards the amp mumbling something in my head that made me feel a little bit better. I’m usually in agreement with me. Now, looking...

2.26 | Heeeere's Cohen!
So, this past Tuesday morning, February 24, Christy had a doctor's appointment. Cohen was due on Tuesday of next week, March 3, so we were expecting the doctor to say that Christy was dilated a little. Which she did. She said Christy was dilated 2 cm. and everything looks good see you next week. Then we came home and Christy started to feel bad. Being her first child, she wasn't sure what a contraction was. She would say, "I feel weird"....

1.20 | If You're in the Ithaca area, or just want to go there...
Love the Least is Coming to Ithaca! Have you ever wondered what the Bible has to say about  abortion? How should we as God's people respond? Is abortion really such a big deal? Is there anything I can do about it anyway? These are the kind of tough questions that "Love the Least" attempts to answer in an evening of worship and education. "Love the Least" is an outreach of Abort73.com designed to educate people, especially high school...
