CD of the Week #4, metal mayhem!!

Hey bloggies!!
That's right, it's time for some metal music this week!  Those that know me best know that metal is my favorite kind of music. That being said, the cd featured on this particular blog is of my favorite band, Demon Hunter.  The record is called "The World Is a Thorn."  I know metal isn't everyone's particular favorite, but Demon Hunter has a little something for everyone.  The heavy element is well covered, but they also incorporate some really beautiful melodic elements in their songs.  They even have a few songs without screaming if you don't like screaming.  To quote vocalist Ryan Clark from their Myspace page : "The theme around this record is about the often harmful and destructive world we live in. Most of the songs deal with the current state of the nation and our world as a whole. In particular, the lyrics take aim at a Godless people and the depletion of our morals and values."  There is always a very intellectual approach to the lyrics of their songs, because they address some pretty serious issues.  That's a big reason why their songs are so anthemic, just epic songs that get you pumped!!  A few particular examples are "Collapsing", "The World Is a Thorn", "Tie This Around Your Neck", and "Driving Nails" just to name a few.  The band has a couple new members on this record, Patrick Judge from The Showdown, and Ryan Helm from The Ascendicate.  This record as well as the rest of the Demon Hunter collection keeps me thinking to this day about knowing where I stand, what I stand for, and Who I stand with. The band has a very big following from military troops, and rightfully so.  So many songs they have talk about war and going to battle.  A song called "This Is the Line" has a gang vocal in the chorus that yells, This is Battle, WE ARE THE BLADE,  and This Is the Line!!!!  A call to arms against our enemy and all that comes with it.  So, that's Demon Hunter in a nut shell.  Great music, great message!!!

I hope these cd reviews are helping you out.  My greatest concern for these blogs is that I won't be helpful enough, so any advice or questions or other bands you'd like to see me review, let me know!!!  God bless!!!
