New cd review!! "Light Up The Sky" from The Afters

Hey errrrbody!!!!

Did everyone have a good summer? Mine was great!!! We have been really busy on the road this summer. We've been to a theme park at least once a weekend for the past 3 weekends, so I have been riding some serious amount of roller coasters! We've got some exciting times planned this fall, so stay tuned!

It's that time again for "CHUFFY'S CD REVIEW!!!!"(insert big announcer voice)

Today we're gonna check out the new record from Texas band The Afters. This quartet of rock is back with their 3rd studio album. There have been some lineup changes to the band with Dan Ostebo stepping in on bass and former drummer of Storyside:B, Jordan Mohilowski assuming on drums. The 1st two records "I Wish We All Could Win" and "Never Going Back to OK" defined their sound as a pop rock/brit rock kind of sound. While they still have their signature sound, this record is different. This record seems to have more of a worship music influence than their previous albums have, and it's a great fit! There's a definite upward focus which is a good change. The title song "Light Up The Sky" is a great single, singing simply about the evidence of God's love. "Lift Me Up" is a song about being rescued from our past and resting in God's strength. "Say it Now" is a standout song talking about not keeping things bottled up inside and not being afraid to talk things out. "We Won't Give Up" is a rally the troops kind of song that reminds the enemy that even if it's not our time, we're ready to fight!!! Overall this is a great record!! I'm always afraid if a band I like makes a different record that I won't like it, but this one is not a disappointment. Their first 2 records are also great if you've never heard The Afters. What are you waiting for? Go get, right now!! You're missing out! Stay tuned for more blogs and thanks for reading!!

In Christ,
