Ok, let's talk about the violin a little before the videos start. I think playing the violin is one thing, but playing the violin in worship is something a little different. It took me a good bit of time to figure out what to do in a church worship setting. Let me say that the simpler, the better. Just because it isn't difficult to play doesn't mean it isn't beautiful and effective, because the whole point of playing or singing in front of a church congregation is to lead them to a place where they will have the opportunity to worship God with nothing distracting them and maybe even helping them see Him in a new way.
This is something that should not be taken lightly because God is to be worshiped whether we feel like it or not. Also, in leading the body of Christ we are held to a higher standard, so we should be prepared in such a way as to create an atmosphere of worship from the first note of the first song. Worship time is not the time to show what skills you have. I struggled with that for awhile. I thought I wasn't doing very much because the things I was playing were not very difficult. But like I said, that's not the point.
So I guess I'm trying to say, examine yourself before you take on a church worship role. Even if you say,"I'm just a player in the orchestra or band", your heart is what matters because He who searches hearts knows what is the mind of the spirit (Romans 8:27).
Alright, look for the videos coming soon on this blog.
